Welcome to Earthbound Gardeners! My intent for my new blog is to provide basic, hands-on, easy-to understand gardening tips and advice for everyday people. (Like me!) Meet the Earthbound Gardener!I grew up in world that revolved around agriculture and gardening, and I’ve had my hands in the dirt for a lot of years. These days, more people are discovering the joy and tremendous satisfaction that goes along with growing things with their own two hands.

If this is you, yay! Don’t be overwhelmed and don’t be intimidated. Gardening can be as difficult or as involved as you want it to be, but it can also be as easy as (mud) pie.

Either way, first things first. Get yourself a basic understanding of plants and gardening terminology, and you’re on your way. If you’re an old hand at gardening, I hope my blog is helpful and interesting to you as well.

While this blog is definitely not intended to be a daily diary of my life, the weather, my personal observations or my political viewpoint, I’ll tuck observations and thoughts here and there when I think it’s appropriate and not too boring. For example, I’m very concerned about invasive and non-native plants, and I’m sure I’ll be preaching about that subject here and there. Similarly, I’m worried about the loss of bees, as we should all be.

Some other things I’m passionate about are wildflowers and native plants. I’ll get into that more as we go along. I may even spend some time writing about Eastern Oregon – the beautiful, isolated, dry two-thirds of the state that nobody knows about.

That’s enough about all of that for now. Let’s get busy!
