Coleus -- Brighten a Dark Corner

Coleus is a great choice for a partially shady location or a garden spot with broken or dappled light. Some varieties tolerate bright sunlight but most fade and lose their intense color in too much sun.

Speaking of color, coleus definitely doesn’t disappoint. This hardy foliage plant comes in an unbelievable range of colors, including deep red, deep green, lime with burgundy stems, cherry red with black markings, burgundy with lime yellow edges, plum with pink edges, bright green with yellow edges and centers, mahogany purple with bright green scallops, green with red polka dots, and gold with deep purple veins, whew! (And even more!)

Coleus actually does produce flowers, but this plant is all about the foliage. If you see a flower, pick it off quick! The flowers aren’t pretty and they just sap the energy from the spectacular leaves.
